Matador Sign
My usual Thursday game at Matador tonight, and quite frankly I only played one real pot. A9 with a board of 287-T. At this point (I know my opponent here) and bet big. He moves in on top of me and I believe I am behind to a pair. I have the open ended straight draw and one overcard ( I’m estimating 11 outs here – aboud 20% or so to win) and his raise is giving me the right price since I bet big into him. I have to call, and he turns over 69 for the made straight. Ouch… I am drawing to a chop… and don’t get there.
Bye bye chips …. See you another time!

Today is usually my day to play the home game at Big H’s house, but late in the day I realize it is not on today. Oops, It’s pretty late so I will have to pick up an Orlando Hold’em league game. Luckily there is a new venue opening today at 903 Mills Market (a bar/restaurant).

Matador
Another Orlando Hold’em league game night at matador. I fold a small pot with AT ( hit my A ) when I read my opponent for very strong, and he shows two pair. Damn, my fold reads are awesome these days! Shame it doesn’t make money. Speculate with a flush draw that doesn’t get there. Win a hand with QT when I hit a Q. I’m at 1,005 chips and it’s last hand before the break.

Matador Sign
Well, I’m back at Matador for my usual Thursday Orlando Hold’em league poker tourney. Early on in the game, I am in a limped pot with Qh9h and the board comes Kh5hQc, nice result I have mid pair and a second nut flush draw. Some small betting and calls, and the turn comes 9s. I now have 2 pair and a flush draw. “Mr. R” (I have plenty of history with this player) bets 260 and I raise to 600, feeling that I am probably best here. He goes allin for about 1,200 total. Sigh, I believe I have at least 13 outs to anything he has (Unless it’s KQ or K9 – then I’m dominated, he could also have my flush covered, but I think these are small risks). I also have a decent chance to be best in this spot against this particular player. What can I do here but call off my chips and hope I get there. I call, he shows the straight and I lose and am down to 135 in chips, which I proceed to lose shortly. Read the rest of this entry »

Matador's Winner
Ugh… my head! RangTang shots are not a good idea the night before a flight to Las Vegas. So, I thought it would be fun to go to my favorite downtown Orlando Hold’em free poker league venue, Matador, and play some poker to “warm up” before my 30 days begins. I also managed to talk a friend into playing who has never played before, pretty sure she has the “bug” now.
