Golf at Bali Hai
Today we started off with some golf at Bali Hai which is just off the strip. It used to be you couldn’t get a tee time, never mind afford it, but times have changed and the rates are 1/2 off and the next tee time after us was an hour later! We almost had the course to ourselves. We only saw one person, looked like the clubhouse pro, playing a speed round through us. Awesome day out, despite the 104 degree heat.

Bellagio Poker Room
So here it is day 2, and after that disappointing start yesterday I decided to try a new venue, the Bellagio. I have heard they have a nice poker room. I get there about 2:00 and there is a tournament already in progress that i could buy into for $540 – Wow, I guess I’ll give the ring games another try. I sign up for 1/2 NLHE and after a few more sign ups, they start a table for us. This crowd is more social than the midnight MGM burnouts, so I am already enjoying myself more. I sit at seat 10 and put a hundred in and the cards fly. Most others are in for $200 which is the table max buyin.

MGM Poker Room
What a rough flight to Vegas, 6 hours of hangover on a plane with screaming kids is not cool. Why are people taking their kids to Vegas anyways?! I arrive, and luckily there is no line at the 104 degree outside taxi stand. Vegas seems a little quiet this weekend. I’m staying at the MGM Grand and my uncle and a few of his relatives are out here for the weekend too. Should be a great time. Time to clean up a little, power nap, food and then Gamble!

Matador's Winner
Ugh… my head! RangTang shots are not a good idea the night before a flight to Las Vegas. So, I thought it would be fun to go to my favorite downtown Orlando Hold’em free poker league venue, Matador, and play some poker to “warm up” before my 30 days begins. I also managed to talk a friend into playing who has never played before, pretty sure she has the “bug” now.

Chances are, my amateur poker habit is pretty similar to yours. Somewhere between casual hobby and clinically obsessed. I play in a free poker league once or twice a week, have a home game with friends once in a while , and a few times a year visit a casino to play some “serious” poker. I fancy myself a solid player (Never met a poker rat that thought he/she was bad or stuck overall!), but I couldn’t tell you if that is truly accurate or pure imagination on my part.
